WHAT IS ACTING?
Is it pretending to be be someone else? Is it learning lines written from a script? Is acting something you can actually learn to DO, or is just an ability that you are born with?
If acting is just pretending, then anybody can do it. In fact, we all do. EVERYDAY. How often do you pretend? How often do you hide your truth? Acting is something that we can all do because it is apart of our human condition. However acting is about much more than just pretending. A professional actors goal is to portray another individual as HONESTLY and AUTHENTICALLY as possible.
"ACTING IS THE ABILITY TO LIVE TRUTHFULLY UNDER IMAGINARY CIRCUMSTANCES."
We are all capable of acting, but at McKinney North you will learn HOW to do it well. The key to understanding acting is knowing that it is an action word. Acting is about doing. An audience doesn't actually care about what you saying on stage but what you are DOING. In our acting classes you will learn how to use your acting tools effectively.
Our acting tools help us to develop character and, by extension, self confidence. We learn how to genuinely listen and respond. Pursue a characters GOAL and MUCH, much more...
Our Theatre Classes use Google Classroom to enrich our learning. Students are able to receive and turn in assignments here.
